The SEO Guide For Busy People

SEO For Small Business Owners

Google page rank can be cruel. No matter how much you tweak your site, it seems like nothing ever changes.

This frustration has brought about smoozers of all shapes and sizes selling some widget that claims to solve all your search engine problems.

I’m here to tell you those black hat techniques won’t help you. What will help you is optimizing website content for search engines.

But before your pupils shrink to the size of pin heads, know this — SEO doesn’t have to be hard. And to prove I’m serious, I’ve compiled a list of 5 of the easiest things you can do to help your SEO.

Write Good Stuff

Killer keywords will do you no good if your content sucks. Google takes into account bounce rate and time on site when determining search engine rank. Prioritize quality content over anything else on this list.

Add Text To Images And Video

When search engine spiders come across videos and images they don’t know what they’re looking at and can’t properly index them. Help them out by adding transcripts to videos, and tags/alt tags to images.

Don’t Cheap Out On Hosting

Spammers love cheap hosting. And if your site is flagged as being on the same server as a spammer, your search engine rank will pay dearly.

Don’t Forget To Spell Check

Back in the early days you could get away with optimizing for misspelled words.

Now most search engines will autocorrect those errors. Trying to soak up the traffic of commonly misspelled words won’t help. In fact, misspelling keywords just looks lazy and unprofessional.

Keep Content Current

Blogs are a fantastic way to create different portals to your website. Each blog post can be optimized for different keyword phrases, instead of cramming too many on the homepage. With blogs you can use any keyword phrase applicable without sacrificing those less commonly used niche phrases.

And Don’t Forget…

There are tons of things you can do to improve SEO. But if you’re a normal person, and not superhuman, you probably don’t have 5 straight hours to devote to SEO.

But I hope you use these 5 tips as a jumping off point for your SEO success. Once you lay the foundation with these tips, you can work your way through the process by devoting some time each week/month, and start to see some fantastic results.
