3 Ways to Inject Motivation & Money Into Your Business

money and motivation

When interviewing potential clients, I always ask a simple question about motivation: How would you rate your level of motivation from 1-10? Invariably the most common responses indicate everyone must be motivated! If only it were that easy.

The reality is most also tell me they are tired, burnt out and frustrated with their results (aka money). They view it as a management or marketing problem, but often fail to connect how important motivation is to the money! When our mind is right, so is our business.

Think about it, we are in a time where most of us are being asked to do more with less, for less. Plus you are looked to and relied on as a leader to customers, staff, community, and colleagues for motivation, advice and support. Regardless of how positive or motivated you perceive yourself to be, even the best of us can become worn down. It’s OK you’re human!

Having a consistent way to create and sustain motivation is just as important as the motivation itself. The challenge is that most of us don’t have the time or know where to start recharging ourselves. We categorize time dedicated to self-motivation as “nice to have” but not a necessity, so it ends up on the back burner (like all those other projects). To help, I’ve listed 3 fast ways to integrate motivation into your day.

Find A Way To Start Your Day

Most successful and happy people have a way of starting their day on purpose, with purpose. Create a short but meaningful regimen for yourself in order to gain focus, clarity and calmness. Ideas to use include prayer or mediation, gratitude journals, verbal affirmations, visualization and more.

Gratitude & Greatness

Sometimes you just have to remind yourself of all the good things too. Slow down and once a day, write down a simple note about something you are truly grateful for, something you are really great at or have accomplished. It’s small and simple, but powerful for the soul.

Define YOUR Good Day

Define the key metrics in your business to track on a DAILY BASIS. These should be things that drive results, and that you can control (i.e., activity driven not revenue driven). Track your progress each day and measure your activity. You’ll find action breeds motivation.

It’s important to note that motivation, like any skill, takes time, commitment, and practice. So, find simple ways to make it part of your daily habits. To start, just pick one you like, give it 15 minutes a day, and develop the habit first. Ironically, you’ll do more once you are motivated.Oh, and don’t be surprised when you create and sustain the motivation, the money will follow!
